When in every direction the land is empty, it can be hard to hold out hope for a harvest. But even the most abundant harvest begins in empty land. No seed will flourish in an already crowded space.  The momentary emptiness is necessary. Room is needed for the new season’s harvest to be planted. So while the wind whips dust around an empty field, keep in mind all that is happening beneath your feet.  If you close your eyes and listen just so, you will hear the life growing below.
